MAX CASACCI

Artistic Producer, Arranger, Musician


Massimiliano Casacci or better known as Max Casacci (Torino, October 11th, 1963) is an Italian guistarist and producer of the band Subsonica.

Childhood

He listens to the music since the early age, from Burt Bacharach to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Suzi Quatro. He starts to play the guitar and goes to the movement 'Lotta Continua' not for the political ideas but to use their rehearsal room.

When he was a teenager he liked punk and new wave, live Tuxedomoon, Talking Heads, Siouxsie and Residents.

Youth

At 18 he has been contacted by Carmody (ex Teknospray, one of the first new wave Italian bands). There he learns how to record, use the sequencer, electronic drums and arranging songs.

At 22 he plays the bass in the rock band called Deafear from Turin, one of the best dark bands in the first '80.

Called to record an electric guitar for Suicide Dadà he knows Masaski. They formed a band called A Mad in Prague.

He studied photography and worked to help the father film studio (that now is his own Casasonica Studio).

Saving some money he bought a 8 tracks recorder and composed music for documentaries, dance, theatre. During '86 he wrote 'Il giardino degli inganni' film soundtrack learning to play classic guitar and lute.

During his new-psychedelic period he plays with the band Misfits. With Gigi Restagno he interpreted in a soft way the songs for a hardcore film soundtrack. The actress Tracy Adams finally congratulated to him!

During '87 he collaborates with The difference. With good reviews in UK, Max realized his first production Vegetable Man (Toast Records) with Mixo and Marziano Fontana.

During the same period Toast Records published 2 songs as Massimiliano Casacci. The first it's an acid & airy tribute to Ticket to Ride, the other song is a radio jingle (Cellophane).

He produced with Giulio Tedeschi 'Bom Shankar Suite' by No Strange.

During this period he's also live engineer with Afterhours, Loschi Dezi, Fratelli di Soledad and Africa Unite.

He produced People Pie by Africa Unite. Then with the band he plays for 6 years guitars, wrote lyrics and songs. They played all over the Europe, Jamaica, Palestine and Iraq.

At the same time he produces Loschi Dezi, Mau Mau, Fratelli di Soledad, Mao e la rivoluzione, Mambassa, Dottor Livingstone. Casa Sonica is a benchmark for Turin in the '90.

During '96 he stops with Africa Unite; he contacts Samuel for an experimental studio project; then Samuel and Boosta persuaded him to build a band.. called Subsonica. He's artistic director of Traffic - Torino Free Festival.
